Why flat fees

## Per-word pricing makes a long specification unpredictable.

Published market rates for patent translation run roughly US$0.10 to US$0.30 per word, so a 12,000-word specification costs US$1,200 to US$3,600 before anyone reviews it. Solmera charges one price and tells you the delivery date up front.

How it actually works

## We read the source while we translate it. Then we deliver the same day.

Source defects flagged

### Errors in your source come back as amendment suggestions

Translating a specification is the closest reading it will ever get. Missing claim numbers, duplicated terms, typos and mismatched reference signs are flagged during translation and returned as a short amendment memo before you file.

Speed

### Ordered at 3 pm, delivered that night

A recent medical-AI specification arrived by email at 3:53 pm and the final file went out at 9:56 pm the same day. We promise a draft within 24 hours; most jobs are faster.

Flat fee

### One price, whatever the length

A 6,000-word specification and a 19,000-word one cost the same. Per-word pricing makes long documents unpredictable. Only documents beyond the flat-fee range (about 20,000 English words) are quoted separately, before we start.

Not a prompt. A pipeline.

## The rules of patent translation run in software we built ourselves, trained and reviewed by dozens of patent attorneys.

Architecture

### Our own software architecture, not a prompt in a chat window

Claim-first ordering, terminology control, table and drawing handling and final validation run as separate stages of a pipeline our attorneys designed and built. The language model is one component inside it, not the product.

Terminology

### One term, one translation, across the whole document

The two rules that decide a patent translation, consistent terminology and the terms actually used in Korean patent practice for each field, are handled by the architecture rather than left to the model. Your glossary is applied before our defaults.

Attorney-trained

### Dozens of patent attorneys reviewed the output and trained the AI

The pipeline learned from attorney translations and was corrected case by case by dozens of patent attorneys who reviewed what it produced. An attorney still checks every delivery.

Translation delivered within 24 hours of receiving your file. A recent specification arrived at 3:53 pm and went out at 9:56 pm the same day.

## What you get

**Big Law attorneys**
Our Korean patent attorneys drafted and litigated at Big Law firms. They check every translation before it leaves.

**An AI they built**
Not a well-written prompt on a general-purpose LLM. Our attorneys designed the software themselves so that each client's translation rules are enforced strictly.

**Tables, equations, drawings**
General-purpose LLMs cannot translate equations, tables, subscripts and symbols. Solmera translates them in place, where they belong.

**Not stored, not trained on**
Never used to train AI models. Processed only through Anthropic's commercial API, held on ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certified Google Cloud, and deleted 14 days after delivery.

## Questions firms ask

### Which fields do you take?

Mechanical and electrical patents, including electronics, telecommunications, semiconductors and control systems. Chemistry, biotech, pharma and materials are out of scope for the flat fee. Ask for a quote and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.

### Who reviews the translation?

Korean patent attorneys with Big Law experience review it themselves. On the $200 plan they check completeness, terminology, formatting and claim dependencies. On the $900 plan an attorney reviews and finalizes the claims against KIPO practice, and the AI then revises the rest of the specification to match.

### Is the fee really flat?

Yes, for one specification of up to about 20,000 English words (35,000 Japanese or 25,000 Chinese characters). Longer documents are quoted before we start, never billed by surprise.

### Can you also file in Korea?

Yes. National phase entry, office action responses and registration are handled by the same attorneys. Prosecution is quoted per case.
